The “Multiply” Knitted Hat Pattern

Very strange things happened. Knitting! And I worked very spontanous, focused and fast this time and thats why I am happy to be able to release a little pattern before Christmas and New Year that was not really planned. It is a small little project, a knitted hat using the stranded colorwork technique.

For those of us who are not really interested in the background story of the pattern:

The pattern includes charts and video tutorials for the decreases. It is only available in English.

If you like the pattern, please give it a like on Ravelry and post your version there, if you feel for it!

A big big thank you to each and everyone involved in the process, to helping hands and mental support and the loving crafting community!

I had the opportunity to visit the local yarn spinning mill YARNS&BARNS and was allowed to use their equipment to try to dye some yarn. Most important I also have been taught and guided how to do it by very skilled people. All in all it was an amazing experience to find out more about small patch dyeing and yarn production. I really want to thank the people involved in that day.

I just leave a few pictures here so you can get an impression what the dyeing process includes:

I was able to dye a good amount of local produced swedish yarn and could also test a few skeins of SCHEEPJES new NAKID series which was released not too long ago.

When the yarn was ready it was time to decide how to use it. I always wanted to do a hat inspired by the frozen flying soap bubbles I try to photograph when the tempretures drop below a minus 15 degrees here in the north. That, of course requires a double brim to keep your ears warm and I created a chart of multiplying, repeating circles/bubbles.

I am aware of that not everybody has the possibility to dye their own yarn. So I also did a version using the new SCHEEPJES WOOLWISE which has almost the same size. The woolwise has become my new favourite yarn to be honest. It is DK weight and a 100% superwash recycled Merino wool. It is just perfect to use for garments and blankets. Very cosy and very warm. Perfect for knitting AND crochet.

I really like the decreases in my Common People Crochet Hat. To not start the decrease at 4 points at the same time shapes the crown a little different and gives the hat a better fit. So i tried to decrease in the new “MULTIPLY” Hat to adapt this shape to a knitted hat.

“MULTIPLY” is not only a great song by Jamie Lidell, it reminds me also of the feeling I get when I try to catch the flying freezing bubbles, when I try to blow bubbles, find the right angle and be fast enough to take a picture. The pattern of the hat is a multiple of 10 stitches and which crafter would not like to multiply themself to finish all ongoing WIPs. So I thought the title fits quite good.

I made 2 hats for my kids and by doing that I could also play with different needle sizes to create different sizes. With 2 balls of the woolwise you will manage to make 2 hats in converted colors and I became so old that I think that that is cute.

I hope you like the “Multiply” knitted hat.
