Back in the mosaic crochet game! And for those of us who are not interested in the background story, here are the hardfacts:
- The pattern is using the mosaic technique.
- It is crocheted in 5 colors of the amazing Scheepjes Woolwise with a 4mm hook
- Size is adaptable, the original pattern is 160cm x 92cm without a border.
You can find the pattern

Yes, I started a little ETSY shop after all these years for those of us who have a hard time ordering at Ravelry. Ravelry is in my opinion still the number one go to pattern plattform.
The pattern is right now available in UK and US terms and in Dutch, Swedish and Spanish. The German version is on the way and will be added soon.
A big, big, big thank you to all translators, testers, helping hands and mental support who are always backing me and my work, no matter what.
The Scheepjes WOOLWISE is a 100% Recycled Superwash Merino Wool, DK weight yarn which comes in 100 grams balls that hold 200meters.
I used the color Woodland/760 as main color throughout the whole pattern. And i needed 11 balls for that. The other colors I used are:
- Honey Mustard 718 / 4balls
- Ash Grey 703 / 2balls
- Birch Bark 706 / 1ball
- Ruby Red 732 / 4balls
If you decide to buy new yarn, Scheepjes Yarn can be bought at your local yarn shop: Scheepjes Dealers . If you do not have the possibility to buy local, you can order your Scheepjes yarn at Wool Warehouse or Jimmy Beans Wool

The story behind that pattern is a little special and makes me really proud: The local museum “Jamtli” is planing an exhibition that is based on crafted objects inspired by the history of crafting in Jämtland. (Jämtland is the name of the county I live in in the middle of Sweden). The exhibition has the name “UrSlöjd” and will show a wide range of people who work in different fields in the crafts. Woodwork, forging, textile art, print…. every kind of art that has in some way a connection to the region. And, guess what, I am beyond proud that my work will be part of it.

I am not born and raised in Sweden so it was a real good challange to get more into the history of swedish crafting. I also had the opportunity to visit the archives of the museum and dig into the ancient treasures that are not displayed. It was a breathtaking experience to see original weavings that are 1000 years old. To imagine that human beings worked on those objects, made the materials and tools is simply amazing.
I was able to see crocheted mittens, blankets and clothes….

But in the end it was a big woven object that especially caught my eye. I thought an adaption would really make a fantastic blanket.

The repetative style and the graphic design, combined with the colors are matching the mosaic crochet technique perfectly. I needed to adapt the style a little but I hope I managed to give this object a new, modern touch and keep the design alive and constant at the same time.
One of my goals with pattern writing is always to make patterns adaptable in size so that it is easy to adjust to your very own needs. In this case the repeats are quite big but the pattern still gives you the possibility to make a bigger or smaller object. It would also be possible to turn the design with 90 degrees, start with a longer chainrow and change the appearance of the pattern that way.

Another goal is that my patterns always should be fun to make. I do not like loose ends and I have a hard time with patterns which I need to read stitch by stitch to be able to crochet it. This pattern is not as memorizeable as my patterns are, as it holds more parts and it is more diverse. I still think that I got into my crochet flow after the first half of the first repeat, as the pattern is kind of mirrored.
The pattern got the name “History Repeating” as a tribute to the original design and to the amazing song by the Proppellerheads feat the amazing Miss Shirley Bassey…. yes I have it on vinyl 🙂

I also decided to not add a border this time to make the working process more visual with the loose ends. The optional border is still part of the pattern and I might add mine after the exhibition.
I am really excited about the exhibition which will be open from 27 April to the 5 October 2025 and there will aslo be workshops held by different crafters. The exhibition will also feature my RÖDÖN Cushion which you can find HERE and one more pattern I will show you a little later. So long, I hope you enjoy the “History Repeating” pattern.
HAVE FUN!
